I feel like as my days grow increasingly busier and busier, they also keep getting better and better! Today wasn't too busy, but I had such a great day today.
I love the sunshine, oh yes. What a beautiful day. To quote my friend Kronk: "Did you see that sky today? Talk about blue!" I'm going to be sad when it starts to snow.
I got up early, as I usually enjoy doing, and walked out the door to get to my 9:20am class. Public speaking was interesting; I enjoyed the lecture. We discussed listening and the importance of proper communication in family life in parallel to listening to a public speaker. Did you know that the average person speaks 125-150 words per minute, and the average person thinks 500-3000 words per minute?
Afterwards we had our weekly school devotional, and I'll have to say that this was definitely one of the best devotionals I have ever been to. Let me just start by saying that the choir sang my favorite hymn in acapella and in the most beautiful way; totally made my day. Elder Snow from the Seventy spoke to us.
He spoke about the importance of our choices. Sounds like a really broad topic and pretty self explanatory, but what I really got out of it was that our choices reveal our true nature; they reveal the real you. Our choices determine who and what we will become. The object of this life is to change our nature; for the natural man is an enemy to God. (Mosiah 3:19) Our choices need to be directed towards the Savior.
He talked about addictions that bind us and shape our choices; they are destructive and we become something that we were not meant to become.
Satan in the pre-earth life wanted to eliminate choice/agency so that he could determine the outcome.
Such an awesome speaker.
My roommate and I are taking Doctrine and Covenants together, which was our next class after the devotional. Except she was sick today, so I was by myself :( We discussed the introduction and explanation to the Doctrine and Covenants; which I found particularly amazing. I found it interesting that The Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion, but the Doctrine and Covenants is the capstone of our religion. I don't think I have ever had it put quite like that. The Doctrine and Covenants is so interesting to me; I can't wait to dive in deep in this class. (And my favorite scripture comes from the Doctrine and Covenants :) )
I had an hour between my next class, where I studied at the library and saw some friends...
My next class was Missionary Preparation. And yes you guessed it, most students were indeed male, post-high school, pre-missionaries, that were indeed in need of a mission. All like six of the females in the class were from Japan, except me and maybe like two others. I sat next to a girl from Japan who had to tell me her name more than once. It is her first semester at the Business College, she is twenty one and has a great desire to serve a mission back in Japan. Her scriptures were in Japanese, and I thought they were the coolest thing ever.
Because this was my first time in the class, the teacher wasted no time in giving me all my make up work. Awesome. Should be easy though.
I went home after class. Finally.
But I only stayed home for a bit; I went back up to the school again and met up with a friend to take pictures at the Gateway mall. There were several, super cute, little kids running around in the fountain; which made for some really great practice of 'people pictures' for me.
I love photography, it's so relaxing to me and enjoyable. I just love it.
When I came home, I had several phone calls to make, emails to write, and homework to um work on. Still working on that last part...
