Long Day

Today (as the title implies) was a very long day.
Fact: Driving from my house in Texas to my sister's house in Utah takes our family 24 hours. But flying from Texas to Utah today took only four hours.
However, I don't know which I prefer; being stuck for 24 hours in a car with my family? Or flying with complete strangers, traveling around several foreign airports, getting frisked and my bags checked?
Oh well, I've traveled here both ways.
Today I said my goodbyes to my family; I sure will miss them, and was out the door and taken to the airport.
I first flew from good-old Austin, Texas to Phoenix, Arizona; a two and a half hour flight. Our flight took off at 11:30am and when I reached Arizona, it was 11:57am. That's right. Because of the time change, it only seemed to be half an hour. But believe me it certainly felt like two and a half hours.
I landed in Arizona and I searched for my next gate to Salt Lake City, Utah. The system was up to date and my flight seemed to be on time. Why is my gate always the one half way across the whole airport?
Once there (and out of breath) I immediately boarded for my next flight. I sat by the window next to a woman with a baby.
I asked her how old her baby was (even though I could already guess that she was probably three months old (and was right) ) and began to make a pleasant conversation with her. She asked about my plans and I told her about LDS Business College and how I was thinking of serving a mission or going to BYU...
I love though how I just talked to this women and completely assumed that she was LDS.
For a moment I had the thought come to mind that just because we are all on a plane to Salt Lake City, doesn't mean everyone is LDS.
(Good thing she was LDS.)
Her husband and two boys sat across the isle from us and were very entertaining.
*Boys playing with Lego's* (Who thought that was a good idea? Probably dad...)
"Mom! Mom! I dropped something and it's under your chair! Can you reach it for me?"
*Mother trying to feed her baby*
"No Honey, Mommy is buys for a moment."
"But mom, it's just under your chair! Come on, you can reach it!"
Once landed in Salt Lake City, my sister came and picked me up and took me to my new apartment. We dropped off my things, made a short list, and she took me grocery shopping.
Now I'm sitting here in my new room. New apartment. (Well, new to me at least.) And I have a whole new school semester full of adventures to come!

  1. As fun as getting frisked and loosing your luggage may be, I'd take 24 hours in the car with you any day!
