Brownies

Fact about me: You can never go wrong with chocolate.
Except: If it has nuts in it.
So I decided to make brownies tonight. I pulled down the college-student-style box mix that I had grabbed at the store the night before, a mixing bowl, and a few ingredients from the fridge and got to work.
As if you can call making brownies like this work.
I was so excited, my roommates and the other girls coming over later for a meeting were going to love me! My roommates would come home from a long day at work and school, feeling the pressures of the day and dreading the homework yet to be done...
But then, as they walk through the door, the aroma of brownies in the oven would sweep away the stress temporarily and curve the corners of their lips into a smile.
Come on, who doesn't like coming home to the smell of good food (or a great treat) cooking in the kitchen?
The oven was done preheating, and as I began to pour the combined, delicious mixture into the prepared pan, I noticed something.
It had nuts in it!
Where did those come from? I had to double check my box; how did I not notice that as I was making them, much less at the store when I was picking it up?
Ah!
I stood there for a moment and was sad.
Nuts are so gross.
There was only one thing to do.
Good thing there was ice cream in the fridge.
