Service Project

"And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." (Mosiah 2:17.)
I love service projects. I love waking up early and walking out the door when it's still cool outside. I love pulling my hair back in a pony tail and lacing up my tennis shoes. I love working side-by-side with new and old friends who believe the same way I do, have the same smiling attitude, and actually enjoy the work in addition to the social atmosphere.
I went to the service project with a good friend of mine from the stake. It was really great to see him again after so long and to get to spend time with him today. Once there, we signed up for a project and waited for other students to arrive. The project we signed up for was not too far from our central meeting place at the park; it was at an older man's house down the street. Once there, we got straight to work.
We scraped off the old coat of white, peeling paint from the house; some places were easier than others. It was neat to get to know other students in our group that did not go to the same school as myself, and also to work with several people from my own ward. Our team was a good mix of really fun people.
After the project was through, we all met up again and had lunch which was provided by Cafe Rio. How awesome is that?
What a great day though, I'm glad I was able to go.
