Canyon Trip

Fact about me: I love taking pictures. Why? A picture certainly speaks a thousand words, maybe more. I love the stories they tell. I love pictures because the capture the moment; moments that you can't get back, but can only remain in memory.

Moments of people ranging in everything from expressing thoughts and laughing together, or even moments of complete disappointment, disaster, anger, and grief. People in action and people pausing. Smiles, fingers, eyes. Old and young. Lending a hand. People in all colors and styles.

What are they thinking about? What are they giggling about? What can I read from their facial expression? What do their eyes say about them?

It's easy to read their emotion, think about their story, relate to them, sympathise with them, try to understand them.

I love people.

I wish I was better at taking pictures of people.

I particularly love capturing moments in nature; still life. Remembering the seasons and admiring the beauty in the world that we often take for granted. For example, I love the Aspen trees; first off because they remind me of my mother. She loves them. Secondly because everything about them is beautiful; from their shimmery leaves that seem to gently wave to you as they flutter in the breeze, their lovely blend of soft yellows and perfect light greens leaves that reflect the sunlight perfectly, and their unique white bark and each tree with its individual set of black stripes.

I love the geometry in nature; finding the odd numbers; framing my picture with groups of threes or fives with flowers and trees.

I especially love macro photography. I love coming up close with my subject, making it completely in focus and the background out of focus; creating depth.

I had so much fun going up to the canyon with my great friends today and taking pictures; it's something that I enjoy being apart of.
