Trick-Or-Treat

Happy Halloween! I am sad that October is over! It's been a good month.
Ah, I miss the days back at home when I was younger around these last months of the year. There are several cartoons and other shows I remember watching; Ichabod Crane and Charlie Brown Halloween being my two favorites.
I remember trick-or-treating with my siblings up through my high school years. I remember lots of lipstick and lots of candy always being involved. Memories, memories, I miss those days. Those wonderful, happy, carefree years of childhood.
I remember my mom decorating the house with pumpkins, scarecrows, and autumn leaves. Cinnamon and pumpkin candles and the beautiful Texas warm weather; just starting to cool down.
We have a huge globe willow tree in our front yard at home, and I have memories of hanging these tiny jack-o-lanterns (that were hollow at the top) with black yarn all through out the tree at the beginning of the month. I have memories of walking out the door for school some mornings after it had rained, and tipping the pumpkins over to empty out the water.
This year, Halloween landed on a Sunday. But because I am in Utah, we actually had several trick-or-treaters come on Saturday versus today.
This morning I got up early and attended my church meetings, which were excellent. I especially loved our gospel doctrine class today. We discussed Isaiah chapters 55 and 56. I loved the versus about strengthening our stakes and enlarging our boarders; it reminds me of how important missionary work really is, and how important every single person individually is to our Heavenly Father. It reminds me of the plan of salvation, and how much our Heavenly Father wants us to be happy, truly happy, and return to Him with honor. I loved chapter 63 where it talks of the true nature and characteristics of our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ.
"I will mention the
lovingkindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses." (Isaiah 63:7)
After church, I went home with my roommates and we cooked and ate dinner together. We all rested and went to our ward prayer tonight.
We had a great thought given by one of the ward members about gratitude. He reminded me not only of the importance of gratitude, but the importance of writing things down that I am grateful for. I need to be better at that.
After ward prayer, a few friends and I went to a friend's house and played games for a while for his birthday. It was really fun.
We played a game called "What if...Then..."
One of the cards: "What if Suzanne drank whole milk?"
Me: "HEY!!"
Then I came home with my roommates.
Well, I am excited for a new week and a new month! New things to come. I am happy, I love my life :)
