Question: How many bloggers does it take to change a light bulb?
Answer: None. Bloggers don't change light bulbs, they change the world.
It's true.
As far as my blog is concerned, I'm pretty sure it's not going to change the world; it's just something I really enjoy doing. But I do believe that through expressing one's self through writing, you can influence and change people. Writers have that ability to imagine and create; form words together in combinations that can simply blow you away.
I hope to be a great writer some day.
And if I do, I want you all to buy my books :)
I had a great day today; my life is so good! :)
I was up bright and early this morning and out the door in a flash.
My first class for the day was public speaking. Today we had to present our inspirational speeches; of which I thought it was supposed to be a 2-3 minute speech, when in reality it was supposed to be a 60 second speech.
Oops.
I don't think I did as well on this speech, but I guess you can never go wrong in an inspirational speech with a personal story.
Fact about me: I am dyslexic. I struggled so hard to succeed starting from my early years in elementary and on through high school. I was constantly humiliated because of my slow reading speed, constant mixing of letters, and other weaknesses. It seemed my only friend in those early years was my mom; she was always there for me.
Even on through my high school years, I was pulled out of class for testing and put in reading programs at school-completely humiliating.
However, I was determined to get good grades and to overcome my dyslexia. I read many books, wrote letters, and I wrote in a journal consistently.
My weaknesses became strong as I relied on my Heavenly Father.
English and writing have become my best subject; I love writing and hope to write a book some day.
I spoke about how I worked so hard in school growing up because I wanted to succeed despite my difficulties with learning through my dyslexia. I wasn't accepted into BYU-my life long dream- and was completely devastated. However, I wanted to follow God's plan for me. After a visit over spring break to the LDS Business College, I knew for myself that this was where Heavenly Father needed me to be.
So here I am today, and I feel pretty successful. :)
After class, I went to the devotional with my roommates. Today's speaker was a former congressman; today was election day so it made since. He was a good speaker.
My roommate and I went to our Doctrine and Covenants class where we studied from section 29.
I had a break between classes and then went to my mission prep class. We continued our discussion from last week about how to handle objections. He taught us about how asses understanding by asking questions, and then proceeding to teach the investigator.
When all my classes were done for the day, I helped friend with a homework assignment and then spent some time at the Gateway with my roommate.
I usually don't go shopping like this very often at all, so it was nice. I love spending time with my roommate; I really appreciate the person she is and her friendship.
We visited a friend while we were there while she was working and ate some cookies with her :)
Then we came home and I invited a friend over to work on some homework. I have so much to do! I have a couple of projects that I need to do...
I also had to do some (a lot) of reading for my sociology class tomorrow.
And I also had to write several emails concerning our up-coming Relief Society activity.
I have a lot to do!
Changing the world is a lot of work you know; one blog post at a time :)
