Spoon Me

I had a wonderful, wonderful Saturday today!
I got up early this morning and got myself ready for the day. I headed over to the school to meet up with the sisters in our Relief Society. Today was our combined Relief Society activity that we have been planning for a few weeks now.
I talked on the phone with my younger brother and sister on my way there; it was nice to hear their voices and listen to them. I enjoyed listening to my younger sister as she told me about her agenda for the day. She had to clean the house with our siblings and then she had a party thing to go to with a bunch of girls; they were going to get together to get ready for the tri-stake dance that evening.
Oh the dances, I loved them so much in high school! She-like myself-had picked out what she wanted to wear a week or so in advance, and was anxious to see certain boys at the dance; hoping they would perhaps notice her lip gloss or her new shoes.
Opposite of my brother, he teasingly told my sister he was going to just wear jeans and a t-shirt; perhaps wearing black with brown.
RULE: Never wear black with brown. Ever. Period. The end.
Boys don't notice these things I've learned. Little do they seem to know-or care- about all our efforts for the dances in high school.
They will learn.
We all learn I suppose.
Well when I got to the school, I met up with several of the sisters in our ward. After much coordination, we all managed to squeeze into every one's cars and were off to our activity.
For our activity today, we all ate lunch and then had a special 'fireside' about the standards.
Each member of the Relief Society presidencies each took turn and spoke about one of the standards from the 'For the Strength of Youth' pamphlet.
I spoke about language and how us as refined ladies need to use clean and uplifting language. What you say is a reflection of who you are and it reflects a clean and wholesome mind. How you speak says much about who you are. Speak intelligently and don't put others down, even when joking. I certainly learned a lot about the subject as I more fully studied it out.
I encourage everyone to reread the pamphlet and put to practice more fully the principles taught.
It was a nice turn out; I really felt the Spirit and I felt edified.
When the activity was over, I was in a car with several women that I knew, however I didn't know them very well. They weren't girls that I normally spend time with, but I knew them.
We all decided to go to a frozen yogurt place called 'Spoon Me'
I had never been there before, and they had a deal going on for a buy-one-get-one-free.
Why not?
It was certainly delicious; I am hooked. I loved it, only I felt like it was a tad expensive. I bought one for myself, and then got a free one to take home to my roommate who had a sore throat.
I enjoyed spending the time with these sisters; I loved getting to know the girls that I don't normally hang out with.
Once I came home, I changed my clothes and got to work. My roommate and I deep cleaned our apartment. We started our attack on the bathroom, and proceeded with the battle plan on through the kitchen; leaving no spot untouched or forgotten. We wiped out all evidence of the mess; scrubbing dishes, taking out the trash, sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor etc. We vacuumed the carpet and moved furniture around in order to more thoroughly sweep the area of the enemy. We dusted and straightened and organized. We did our laundry and cleaned our room as well.
Triumphantly we won the battle.
I love having a clean apartment; I feel the Spirit more fully when it is clean and organized. I love a clean home.
I showered and got dressed again and one of my friends came over. We played games and chatted for a while.
Then one of our friends from the ward called me up and wanted to know if my friend and I wanted to come over to help answer her roommate's questions about the church.
We headed straight over and talked to her about the church. I enjoyed the opportunity to share the gospel, however I feel like I didn't do much of the talking.
My throat has been super sore; like insanely sore. And to be honest it was just too painful to talk. When I came back home I took care of myself and my throat (medicine for sure and I gargled with salt water. I know it sounds gross, but it certainly works)
Now I am ready to just hit the hay. Ciao.
